Step 1

Make a new document 800x800px and fill the background with #332727. Create a new layer named 'main bg' and using the Rounded Rectangular Marquee Tool make a selection covering the majority of the document in the middle, using the pen tool make a curved selection at the top (see below), fill the selection with #1e1a1a. Add an Outer Glow and a Stroke.



Step 2

Create a new layer named 'links bg', we are going to add a gradient at the top part of our 'main bg' layer so select the layer 'main bg' (Ctrl + Click icon) and using the Rectangular Marquee Tool deselect the bottom part by holding down Alt while deselecting. Apply a gradient from #0f0f0f to #1e1a1a.



Step 3

Make a new text layer and put in the text links that you want, the font that I used was Tahoma, Bold, 10pt, None, #bcacac. Duplicate this layer and go Edit > Transform > Flip Verticle and move it under the text links layer, lower the opacity to 20%.



Step 4

Create a new layer named 'banner' and make a selection using the Rounded Rectangular Marquee Tool at the top of the 'main bg' layer with a nice margin and fill with #0f0f0f. Make a new layer named 'banner shine 1' and using the pen tool make a curved selection on the left and fill with #ffffff, lower the opacity to 1%. Make another new layer named 'banner shine 2' and select the 'banner' layer (Ctrl + Click icon) and deselect the bottom half by using the Rectangular Marquee Tool and holding down Alt and fill with #ffffff, lower the opacity to 2%.



Step 5

Now we are going to add the website name and webpage title. Create a new text layer and add your website name and webpage title, the font that I used was Myriad Pro, Regular and Light, 24pt, Strong, #ffffff.



Step 6

Create a new layer named 'content bg' and make a selection with the Rounded Rectangular Marquee Tool in the middle of the remaining space with a similiar margin space to the 'banner' layer and fill with #0f0f0f. We are now going to be adding the fill in text so create a new text layer and add some fill-in text from lipsum.com, the font which I used was Tahoma, Regular, 12pt, None, #9e8a8a. For the copyright text, the font that I used was Tahoma, Bold, 11pt, None, #ffffff, Blend Mode: Soft Light.
