Tutorials » Dark Sleek Layout v1
Step 1

Make a new document 800x800px and fill the background with #090909. Create a new layer named 'banner', make a selection of 800x120px and make a gradient from #313131 to #111111. Create another layer, named 'banner shine' and using the pen tool make a curved selection (like below) and fill with #ffffff, and lower the opacity of the layer to 3%.

Step 2

Create a text layer and put your website's name in, move the text layer over to the middle of your 'banner' layer. The font that I used was Myriad Pro, Regular, 30pt, Crisp, #ffffff.

Step 3

Create a new layer named 'under banner' and make a selection of 800x50px under the layer 'banner'. Make a gradient from #111111 to #090909. Now move the layer down one pixel, you can do this by selecting the layer and then hold down the Ctrl key and hit the Down Arrow Key once.

Step 4

Make a new layer named 'content bg' and make a selection of 700x500px in the middle of the remaining space. Fill the selection with #111111. Apply an Outer Glow.

Step 5

Create a new text layer and type in the links you want for your site, the font that I used was Myriad Pro, Regular, 16pt, Crisp, #ffffff. Duplicate this layer and apply Edit > Transform > Flip Verticle. Move this new layer below your text links layer and lower the opacity to 10%, this will give us a nice reflective effect.

Step 6

Make a new text layer and add a subtitle for your fill-in text, the font that I used was Tahoma, Bold, 11pt, None, #ffffff. Now we are going to put our fill-in text, you can get fill-in text from lipsum.com. The font that I used for this was Tahoma, Regular, 11pt, None, #b1b1b1.

Step 7

We are now going to do the latest projects part. So make another subtitle for this with similiar settings as your other subtitle. Now add some images, and apply a simple Stroke.

Step 8

Our last step is going to be for the copyright text. Make a new text layer and put in your copyright details. The font that I used was Tahoma, Regular (and Bold for the website's name), 11pt, None, #ffffff, Blend Mode: Soft Light.
